The US has praised Pakistan for its achievements in combating terrorism, according to a joint statement released after discussions in Islamabad.

The United States has praised Pakistan for its ongoing efforts to tackle terrorist groups both regionally and globally. Following the Pakistan-US Counter-Terrorism Dialogue in Islamabad on Tuesday, a joint statement was released, highlighting the US's condolences for the lives lost in terrorist attacks within Pakistan. The statement, shared by Pakistan's foreign ministry, noted, "The United States commended Pakistan's continued achievements in combating terrorist entities that threaten peace and security in the region and beyond." It went on to express sorrow for the civilians and law enforcement personnel who have fallen victim to terrorist acts in Pakistan, mentioning the horrific Jaffar Express attack and the bombing of a school bus in Khuzdar. This announcement came just a day after the US labeled the Pakistani separatist group Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its alias, The Majeed Brigade, as a foreign terrorist organization. The BLA, which has been recognized as a terrorist group by both the US and Pakistan, has been involved in a long-standing insurgency against the Pakistani government, aiming for independence for its resource-rich province. The US designated the BLA as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) in 2019 following a series of attacks. Secretary of State Marco Rubio remarked, "Since 2019, the BLA has taken responsibility for further attacks, including those by the Majeed Brigade." On Sunday, Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir made his second visit to Washington since the recent four-day conflict with India, where he met with key US political and military leaders. The army chief participated in high-level discussions with senior officials and members of the Pakistani community, as noted in the statement.
