A Brooklyn mass shooting left three people dead and eight others injured after several gunmen opened fire inside a New York City restaurant called ‘Taste of the City Lounge’ early Sunday morning, according to NBC News. This heartbreaking event took place on August 17 at Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights, and videos from the scene are circulating on social media. One video captures police securing the area, while another shows the inside of the restaurant, where blood streaks on the floor and scattered belongings paint a grim picture of the chaos that unfolded. Investigators believe that up to four shooters were involved, firing shots just before 3:30 AM local time. The police recovered around 42 shell casings from the scene and found a firearm nearby at Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the violence as gang-related, calling the killings “a tragic, senseless act of violence,” as reported by AP. “It’s a terrible thing that happened this morning, and we’re going to investigate to determine what went down,” she added. Among the 11 victims, there were eight men and three women, ranging in age from 19 to 61. A 19-year-old man tragically lost his life at the scene, while the others were rushed to Kings County Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, although several remain in critical condition. Sadly, two victims later succumbed to their injuries, suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest, head, and limbs. “Our job now is to determine who is responsible and to hold them accountable,” Bloomberg quoted the Police Commissioner. This incident comes just weeks after another mass shooting was reported in New York City. The New York Police Department was first alerted to the shooting around 3:27 AM. Preliminary reports suggest that a dispute inside the Taste of the City Lounge escalated into gunfire involving multiple shooters, as ABC 7 reported.
