Taliban Accuses Pakistan Military Faction of Destabilizing Afghanistan:
The Taliban government has accused a powerful faction within Pakistan’s military of deliberately stoking tensions and spreading misinformation in an attempt to destabilize Afghanistan and divert attention from Pakistan’s internal crises. Speaking in Kabul, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid claimed this rogue military group "cannot tolerate Afghanistan's peace and progress" and is pushing for conflict along the Durand Line — the disputed border between the two nations. According to Mujahid, recent border clashes have escalated dangerously. He said Afghan forces launched retaliatory strikes after Pakistan carried out airstrikes in Paktika province last Thursday, allegedly violating Afghan airspace. Explosions were even heard in Kabul that night. In response, Mujahid claimed Afghan troops targeted Pakistani military posts across six provinces, including Kandahar and Nangarhar. He stated that 58 Pakistani soldiers were killed, 30 wounded, and 20 posts captured, while only nine Taliban fighters were martyred. Pakistan’s military (ISPR) confirmed 23 of its soldiers were killed. Mujahid blamed a "specific faction" in Pakistan’s military for escalating violence and obstructing peace. He accused the group of rejecting diplomatic solutions and trying to draw the region into further instability. “This group is creating chaos to cover up its own failures,” he said. “They’re spreading propaganda against Afghanistan, ignoring ISIS sanctuaries inside Pakistan, and sabotaging efforts to resolve Pakistan’s own security crisis.” The Taliban also accused Pakistan of hosting ISIS-Khorasan leaders, including Shahab al-Muhajir, and turning a blind eye to terror recruitment and training in regions like Orakzai. Mujahid went so far as to link recent terror attacks in Tehran and Moscow to operatives based inside Pakistan. He demanded that Islamabad hand over or expel known ISIS figures. The Taliban claims that Afghanistan’s borders are now fully secured and that the Afghan military has strengthened defenses to prevent illegal crossings and attacks. “Afghanistan has enjoyed eight months of internal stability,” Mujahid noted, warning that any further aggression will meet a “decisive response.” He further accused the alleged Pakistani faction of running a disinformation network aimed at poisoning ties between the Afghan and Pakistani people, while misleading the global community about the situation. Despite the growing hostilities, Mujahid said the Taliban remains committed to dialogue — but only under Islamic law. “We don’t seek war, but we will not allow anyone to compromise our sovereignty,” he warned. He also noted that most Pakistani citizens, politicians, and even military officers do not support the aggressive stance of this rogue faction. “They, too, are suffering under its dictatorship,” he said. Operations reportedly paused after requests from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, but fresh clashes erupted again Sunday when Pakistan resumed firing across the border. In his closing remarks, Mujahid warned of "serious consequences" if Pakistan continues its violations. “Afghanistan wants regional peace, but those looking for conflict will find Afghanistan ready to defend itself.
