Rahul Gandhi Slams BJP Over Unemployment and "Vote Theft", Calls Youth to Rise Against Injustice:
New Delhi, September 23, 2025 — Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led central government on Tuesday, alleging that rising unemployment and corruption are the result of "stolen elections" and "vote theft". In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Gandhi said India’s youth are facing a bleak future because of systemic failures in governance. He directly linked the country's record unemployment to what he termed as "vote chori" (vote theft), accusing the BJP of undermining democracy by manipulating elections and controlling institutions. "When a government comes to power with public trust, its first responsibility is to provide jobs and opportunities to the youth. But the BJP doesn't win elections honestly — they stay in power by stealing votes and hijacking institutions," Rahul Gandhi wrote. Highlighting the ongoing employment crisis, Gandhi claimed that joblessness in India has reached a 45-year high, and alleged that recruitment processes have broken down. He cited recurring exam paper leaks, corruption scandals in hiring, and police action against protesting students as examples of a system that has failed young Indians. The Congress leader also shared a video montage in his post, showing a stark contrast between the struggles of job-seeking students and the image-building efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One half of the screen shows police lathi-charging peaceful student protesters demanding jobs, while the other half features PM Modi planting trees, feeding peacocks, and performing yoga. “The youth of India work hard, dream big, and fight for a better future. But Modi is more focused on his public relations, celebrity endorsements, and benefitting a few billionaires,” Gandhi said. He accused the BJP government of shattering the dreams of India’s youth and turning governance into a spectacle centered around the Prime Minister’s image. According to Gandhi, the core issues — employment, transparency in recruitment, and fairness in governance — are being ignored, while the ruling party concentrates on optics. He warned that India’s youth will no longer stay silent. “Now the situation is changing. Young Indians have realized that the real fight is not just for jobs, but against the theft of their votes. Because as long as elections are stolen, unemployment and corruption will only grow,” he asserted. In a powerful closing message, Gandhi said, “The ultimate patriotism today lies in freeing India from job theft and vote theft.” He called upon the country’s youth to stand up for their rights and safeguard the democratic values of the nation. This statement from Rahul Gandhi comes amid growing concerns over employment figures, increasing allegations of corruption in recruitment processes, and nationwide student protests demanding fair job opportunities.
