Sources told the outlet that Patel used an FBI jet to travel and watch his girlfriend, singer Alexis Wilkins, perform at a wrestling event. The trip was said to cost the agency a very large amount of money. Patel was also criticized for using FBI SWAT teams to protect Wilkins. Many inside the agency felt this was unusual and an unnecessary use of FBI resources. Because of these issues, the Trump administration is reportedly considering Andrew Bailey — one of the current co-deputy directors of the FBI — as a possible replacement. However, nothing has been decided yet. The report says the administration is only “considering” the idea for now. The White House, on the other hand, denied the claims. A spokesperson said that Patel is “a critical member of the President’s team” and that he is working hard to restore trust and integrity in the FBI. The statement did not directly address the allegations but showed support for Patel’s leadership. Andrew Bailey has become a strong name in the discussion. Bailey is a Republican attorney and a U.S. Army veteran. He served in Iraq as an Armored Cavalry Officer before entering public service. From 2023 to 2025, he was the Attorney General of Missouri. He became known for his conservative positions on abortion, gender-affirming care, and immigration issues. Bailey resigned from his role in Missouri in August 2025 to join the Trump administration as deputy director of the FBI. He has also been one of President Trump’s key allies in many legal matters. As Attorney General, Bailey sued New York after Trump’s 2024 hush-money conviction, claiming that the case was “election interference.” He also asked the U.S. Supreme Court to remove Trump’s gag order and to delay his sentencing until after the election. Bailey has taken part in several other high-profile cases as well. He sued Starbucks, accusing the company of discriminating against white men through its DEI policies. He also challenged the Biden administration on abortion pills, transgender healthcare, and sanctuary-city rules. Because of his strong support for Trump and his record of taking bold legal actions, Bailey is seen as one of Trump’s closest allies.
