PM Modi Praises Trump’s Gaza Peace Efforts As Hamas Agrees to Key Parts of 20-Point Plan:

In a significant diplomatic development, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lauded former US President Donald Trump’s efforts to broker peace in Gaza. His remarks came shortly after Hamas agreed to several critical components of Trump’s proposed 20-point peace plan, signaling what many are calling a turning point in the long-standing conflict. Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “We welcome President Trump's leadership as peace efforts in Gaza make decisive progress. Indications of the release of hostages mark a significant step forward. India will continue to strongly support all efforts towards a durable and just peace.” The Indian Prime Minister’s endorsement came hours after Hamas announced its conditional acceptance of parts of Trump’s proposal. The plan includes a ceasefire, Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, mutual release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, unrestricted humanitarian aid, and a firm stand against forced displacement of Palestinians. Earlier this week, PM Modi had already expressed support for Trump’s initiative, describing it as a “viable pathway” to lasting peace in the Middle East. “We welcome President Donald J. Trump's announcement of a comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict. It provides a viable pathway to long-term and sustainable peace, security, and development for the Palestinian and Israeli people, as also for the larger West Asian region. We hope that all concerned will come together behind President Trump's initiative and support this effort to end conflict and secure peace,” Modi said in another post on X. In a notable gesture, Trump reshared Modi’s message on his Truth Social platform, indicating growing international support for his diplomatic push. On Friday night, Hamas surprised many by accepting several key provisions of the plan. This came after Trump issued a stark ultimatum, asking the Palestinian group to agree to the plan by Sunday 6 PM (US time) or face “all hell.” Reacting to Hamas’s partial acceptance, Trump urged Israel to halt its ongoing military operations in Gaza to ensure the safe release of hostages. “Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the hostages out safely and quickly. Right now, it's far too dangerous to do that. We are already in discussions on the details to be worked out,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He emphasized that this was not just about ending violence in Gaza, but about achieving a broader peace across the Middle East. In a video message, Trump also extended his gratitude to countries that played a role in facilitating the peace talks. He specifically mentioned Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, among others. “This is a big day. We’ll see how it all turns out. We have to get the final word down and concrete. I look forward to seeing the hostages return to their families,” Trump said. Calling it an “unprecedented” moment, the Republican leader added, “Everybody was unified in wanting this war to end and seeing peace in the Middle East. We are very close to achieving that.” As momentum builds around the Trump Gaza peace plan, world leaders—including PM Modi—are voicing hope that this could be a decisive step toward lasting peace in one of the most volatile regions in the world.
