On August 17, Rahul will be launching the ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar.
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to kick off a yatra aimed at shining a light on what he claims is an attack on the people's right to vote, stemming from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, as shared by a senior party official on Saturday, August 16, 2025. During a press conference in Patna, former State Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh mentioned that Mr. Gandhi, who serves as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, is expected to spend more than two weeks in the state, wrapping up the ‘Vote Adhikar Yatra’ with a rally in Patna on September 1. Mr. Gandhi will begin the yatra in Sasaram tomorrow, having secured all the necessary permissions from the relevant authorities. Singh noted that the yatra aims to generate momentum for the INDIA bloc ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. When asked about the details, Singh indicated that Mr. Gandhi is likely to “stay in Bihar for nearly 15 days” leading the yatra, which will span “25 districts of the State” and include three rest days on August 20, 25, and 31. At the launch in Sasaram, Rahul Gandhi is expected to be joined by Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, along with other alliance partners, including representatives from three Left parties. For the concluding rally in Patna on September 1, they plan to invite leaders from as many like-minded parties as possible, Singh added.
