Israel continue genocide and attack on Gaza after ceasefire:
According to Amnesty, Israel has violated the ceasefire agreement more than 500 times in seven weeks, even though the deal was supposed to stop all military actions and ease the humanitarian crisis. These violations include fresh air strikes and tight restrictions on food, fuel, medical supplies, and other vital aid. Amnesty’s Secretary-General, Agnès Callamard, said that there is “no indication” Israel is trying to undo the damage of its actions. Instead, she said Israeli authorities “are continuing their ruthless policies,” limiting access to humanitarian aid and essential services. She added that Israel is “deliberately imposing conditions calculated to physically destroy Palestinians in Gaza.” “The world must not be fooled. Israel’s genocide is not over,” she said. On Thursday, Israeli forces carried out several air strikes in southern and central Gaza, including areas beyond the so-called “yellow line,” where the Israeli military is supposed to stay withdrawn under the ceasefire terms. Al Jazeera reporters on the ground said attacks hit buildings in the Bureij refugee camp and eastern Khan Younis. Gaza’s civil defence said these strikes add to hundreds of previous violations. At the same time, Israeli forces launched new raids across the occupied West Bank, including in Qalqilya, Tubas, Hebron, Tulkarem, and Nablus. During a raid in Tubas, Israeli soldiers reportedly interrogated people in the streets and assaulted at least 25 people who later needed medical treatment, according to a Palestinian Red Crescent official quoted by the Wafa news agency. Meanwhile, the first stage of the Gaza truce is close to finishing. On Wednesday, Israel handed over the bodies of 15 Palestinian prisoners. This came a day after Hamas and Islamic Jihad returned the body of an Israeli captive. Armed groups in Gaza have now released all the living captives they were required to under the deal and returned the remains of 26 out of 28 people. Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said the handover shows the group’s commitment to completing the exchange process despite “significant difficulties.Amnesty International has warned that Israeli authorities are still committing acts that amount to genocide in Gaza, even though a ceasefire was declared weeks ago. The rights group says Israel continues to launch new attacks and block essential humanitarian aid, worsening the suffering of Palestinians already struggling to survive.Israel has also released nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and returned the bodies of 345 more. Many of those bodies reportedly showed signs of torture and execution. Still, the ceasefire faces major challenges. Dozens of Hamas fighters remain trapped in tunnels on the Israeli-occupied side of the yellow line in southern Gaza. Israel says it has killed about 20 of them in the past week. Hamas has asked international mediators to pressure Israel to allow the fighters safe passage, saying Israel is violating the ceasefire by targeting them. Talks are also underway about moving to phase two of the ceasefire. This phase would include sending an international armed force to stabilise and demilitarise Gaza, as well as creating a temporary international administration to run the region and oversee reconstruction. Mediators from Turkey, Qatar, and Egypt met in Cairo to discuss the plan, but many uncertainties remain—including whether Israel will fully cooperate. Muhammad Shehada, a fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, warned that Israel has not given up on its plan to “ethnically cleanse Gaza.” He said Gaza may remain “a refugee camp in ruins” unless the world acts. Amnesty’s Callamard repeated her call for global pressure on Israel. She urged all states to demand that Israel allow unrestricted humanitarian aid, lift its blockade, and end what she called its ongoing genocide.
