Government programs are making a positive impact on students from every caste, tribe, and religion, according to the Chief Minister of Assam.

Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa has officially launched Nijut Monia 2.0, kicking off the distribution of forms for this exciting new initiative. Under this scheme, starting in the 2025-26 academic year, a whopping four lakh students—spanning Higher Secondary, Undergraduate, Post Graduate, and B.Ed programs—will receive monthly financial support of Rs. 1,000 for HS students, Rs. 1,250 for UG students, and Rs. 2,500 for PG students. Sarma emphasized that ‘Nijut Moina’ is more than just a program; it’s a beacon of hope for the girl students in our state, helping them realize their dreams. Recognizing the scheme's potential to drive significant social change, the parameters of Nijut Moina 2.0 have been broadened to include even more beneficiaries. While the original Nijut Moina 1.0 focused on state universities and provincial colleges, the Chief Minister announced that steps have been taken to include Central Universities in Assam, such as Tezpur University and Assam University. Last year, the scheme benefited 1.60 lakh girl students, but this year, that number is set to rise to four lakh. Sarma noted that Nijut Moina 2.0 will support girl students in the first and second years of HS, UG, and PG programs. Next year, the scheme will also extend to final-year UG students, aiming for complete coverage of girl students. Ultimately, Nijut Moina is expected to reach 10 lakh girl students, according to the Chief Minister. Additionally, Sarma mentioned that for parents eager to educate their daughters but facing financial hurdles, Nijut Moina will be a source of hope and motivation. He highlighted that the scheme will now also include students at state universities and those enrolled in self-financing courses.
