Celebrating the 79th Independence Day, he covered a wide range of topics, including Operation Sindoor, India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack, and a strong push for self-reliance, or ‘aatmanirbhar’, across all sectors. He also shared his vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047, the year India will celebrate a century of independence. While he didn’t mention the United States directly, he appeared to address President Donald Trump's threat of a 50% tariff, promising to “stand like a wall” to protect the interests of Indian farmers. In his call for self-reliance, he emphasized that this concept goes beyond just currency or trade, warning that relying on other nations is a “recipe for disaster.” Discussing Operation Sindoor, PM Modi stated that the forces were granted full operational freedom after April 22 to determine their plans, timing, and targets for India's response, claiming they “punished enemies beyond their imagination.” Before his address at the Red Fort, PM Modi took to Twitter to wish everyone a happy Independence Day, sharing his vision for ‘Viksit Bharat’.
