Ashish Chanchlani reflects on the police interrogation he faced during the India's Got Latent controversy, mentioning, "Ranveer just seemed to vanish..
YouTuber and content creator Ashish Chanchlani found himself in hot water after Ranveer Allahbadia's comments on India's Got Latent stirred up quite a bit of outrage. In a recent chat with Faridoon Shahryar, Ashish opened up about that “scary time,” sharing how he was the first one the police came to question, which even forced him to put his shoot on hold. When discussing the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent, Ashish reflected, “Those two months were pure chaos. At that point, Samay was in Vancouver, and they couldn’t track down Apoorva, who was understandably frightened — I still think it wasn’t her fault. Ranveer just vanished, leaving me alone in Bandra, and since the police knew where I lived, I was their first stop. As a witness, I had to give my statements to the police.” He admitted that he had never faced anything like this before, as he usually steers clear of making jokes about religion or politics. This was the first time controversy “walked into his life,” and he mentioned that his parents were the ones most worried. He went on to explain that he was on set when everything blew up, and his brother urged him to get home quickly. Ashish recalled, “As I was heading home, everyone on the street was staring at me. It was terrifying. It was tough for me, but even tougher for Samay, Apoorva, and the others. It felt like a two-month circus. I hadn’t even said anything; I was just laughing. Now, how do I explain that I was laughing at Ranveer’s foolishness, not his comment? In February of this year, Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani made an appearance on Samay Raina's show, India's Got Latent. During the episode, Ranveer made a comment about parents and sex that didn’t sit well with some viewers, sparking quite a bit of outrage. This led to FIRs being filed against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva, and Ashish. In response, Samay decided to take down all the episodes from YouTube. However, in April, the Supreme Court allowed Allahbadia to continue his podcast, as long as he kept things decent. On another note, Ashish was recently featured in the music video "Chandaniya," where he shared the screen with actress Elli AvrRam. Their on-screen chemistry really captured the hearts of fans. He also announced his upcoming project, "Ekaki," which he has both written and directed. He shared on Instagram that viewers can expect to see it on YouTube soon!
