After the news of a 25% extra tariff, Harsh Goenka didn't hold back in criticizing Trump, declaring, "India bows to none."

Industrialist Harsh Goenka made a statement on Thursday regarding the United States' recent decision to slap an extra 25% tariff on Indian imports, asserting that India will not back down in the face of such actions. Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump signed an Executive Order that imposed this additional tariff on imports from India. In a post on X, Goenka expressed, “You can impose tariffs on our exports, but you won't touch our sovereignty. Go ahead and raise your tariffs—we’ll strengthen our resolve, seek out better alternatives, and work towards self-reliance. 🇮🇳 India bows to none.” According to the order from the White House, Trump pointed to national security and foreign policy issues, along with other relevant trade laws, as the reasons for this increase. He claimed that India's imports of Russian oil, whether directly or indirectly, present an "unusual and extraordinary threat" to the United States. With this new order, the total tariff on Indian goods will reach 50%. The initial duty will take effect on August 7, while the additional levy will kick in after 21 days, applying to all Indian goods entering the US, except for those already in transit or those that qualify for specific exemptions.
